Public Hearing Meeting


The public and parents of American Indian students and Tribal officials are invited to attend the Mahnomen School District’s spring Federal Programs Hearing Meeting on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library.


This meeting is open to the public to provide  information and seek input on District Federal educational programs (including, but not limited to): Title I, Title II, Title VI, and Title VII-Impact Aid programs.

Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee 2018

Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking nominees for its Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee

Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking nominees for its Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee. Title
VI is a Federal Formula Grant administered by U.S. DOE – Office of Indian Education that allocates
funding to school districts to provide additional services to American Indian students.

Thunderbirds Boys Basketball

Congratulations to the Thunderbirds Boys Basketball team on their Section 6A Championship!
They will play in the State Tournament at Williams Arena in Minneapolis on Thursday, March 22nd.
To allow students and staff time to support the team, school will be canceled next Thursday and Friday, March 22nd and 23rd.
What a great accomplishment for our team and communities. Go Thunderbirds!!!

Boys Basketball State Bracket

The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds will play at 11am on Thursday vs Mayer Lutheran at Williams Area on the University of Minnesota campus! See the brackets here!!

Preschool Screening

Early Childhood screening (Preschool Screening) will be offered by the Mahnomen School District to children who are 3 and 4 years old (or 5 and entering Kindergarten in the fall). Screenings will be held on Monday, April 9 and Monday, April 16 from 3:30-6:30 pm at Mahnomen Elementary School.

The screening includes age appropriate developmental activities that look at motor, concept, and communication skills, as well as a hearing and vision screening. Screenings are mandated by the state to be completed before Kindergarten.
