Jeff Bisek Named Administrator of Excellence

(St. Paul, MN) – The Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA) has named Jeff Bisek, Superintendent of Mahnomen Public Schools, a 2019 Administrator of Excellence. Bisek received this award in recognition of his leadership, concern for students, and active involvement in professional and community affairs. He was honored at a statewide recognition ceremony during the MASA/MASE Spring Conference, March 7-8, 2019, at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in Brooklyn Park.

Bisek’s achievements reflect his ability to lead important changes in the educational system. Under his leadership, Mahnomen implemented a 1:1 technology initiative, dramatically increased Indian education and culture programming, added all-day every-day 4-year Pre-K programming, and added Behavioral Interventionist and Home/School Liaison staff positions. Bisek led several district-wide facilities improvements including upgrading technology infrastructure and WiFi access, building a seven-classroom early childhood addition, and creating a Makerspace Lab for expansion of STEM programming.

Prior to the superintendency, Bisek served as a High School Principal at Mahnomen Public Schools. He was an AgEd Instructor for 21 years in Glen Ullin, ND, Norman County East Public Schools, and the Fertile-Beltrami Public School.

Bisek is an active MASA member and a member of the Legislative Finance Sub-Committee. He is also a member of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Bisek has received the District 30 Administrator of the Year Award.

Bisek received a master's degree in Education Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education from North Dakota State University.

Each year, MASA recognizes members for their contribution to public education. MASA is a professional organization of Minnesota’s school leaders, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, directors of special education, and other central office administrators, as well as state department administrators, college and university professors, and other educators throughout Minnesota dedicated to educational leadership for students.
