Mahnomen School District

Mahnomen Public School District is seeking applications for the following positions. Positions are open until filled. 

Special Education Teacher: (Full-time) Applicants must have or be eligible for MN teaching license in Special Education (multiple areas including EBD and SLD preferred) or able to receive a variance license. 

Special Education Paraprofessionals: (Full-time during school year) Applicants need to be able to meet Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements by having either (1) an associate or higher degree or (2) by having successfully completed a minimum of 60 hours (credits) of instruction from an institute of higher learning or (3) passing the Para-Pro Test, which may be taken at the Mahnomen School. Compensation $22/hour.

Substitute Teachers: (Part-time) Seeking on call substitute teachers. Candidates must have a valid Minnesota teaching license or a short call sub license. Compensation $165/day regular education or $200/day special education assignment.

Substitute Support Staff: (Part-time) Seeking on call substitute paraprofessionals and kitchen staff. Paraprofessional candidates must have either the Paraprofessional Certification or a minimum of 60 hours of college credit, or a 2-year college degree. 

Substitute Bus Drivers: (Part-time) Bus Drivers must have a valid school bus license endorsement. Compensation $28.75/hour.

ISD #432 (Mahnomen Public School) is currently the following teacher applicants with a valid Minnesota teaching license for the 2026-27 School Year. Preference for teachers licensed in multiple areas.

PE / Health Teacher
Provides physical education and health instruction aligned to Minnesota standards, supports student wellness, physical fitness, and lifelong healthy habits.

History / Social Studies Teacher
Teaches middle and/or high school history and social studies courses, supporting civic engagement, historical literacy, and critical thinking.

Communications/English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher
Provides instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and critical literacy skills aligned to state standards for middle and/or high school students.

Science Teacher
Delivers hands-on, standards-based science instruction, supporting student learning in scientific practices, inquiry, and problem solving for middle and/or high school students.

Special Education (SPED) Teacher
Provides specially designed instruction, case management, and IEP support to students with disabilities, in collaboration with families and school teams.

Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher
Provides special education services and instruction to preschool-aged children with disabilities, supporting early learning and developmental needs in partnership with families and service providers.

Elementary Head Principal
Serves as the instructional and operational leader of the elementary school, supporting staff, students, and families while leading school improvement, climate, and daily building operations.

Elementary Teacher

Provides high-quality, standards-based instruction for elementary students, supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and positive classroom culture in partnership with families and colleagues.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher – Multiple Areas
Provides career-focused, hands-on instruction in one or more of the following program areas to support workforce readiness and real-world skills:

  • Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) – life skills, nutrition, child development, and family and consumer education

  • Agriculture (Ag) – agricultural science, natural resources, and ag-related careers

  • Business – business, entrepreneurship, marketing, and workplace skills

  • Woods / Construction / Trades – woodworking, construction, and technical trades

  • Manufacturing – manufacturing processes, production systems, safety, and industrial skills

  • Transportation – automotive and transportation systems, maintenance, and related technical careers

  • Medical Careers – health science, medical pathways, and careers in healthcare and human services

  • Construction Careers – building trades, construction management basics, and skilled trades pathways

  • Communications Technology – digital media, broadcasting, audio/video production, and communication technologies

(CTE assignments may be flexible based on licensure and experience.)

 Mahnomen Schools offers an extremely competitive salary schedule and benefits package and is located in Northwest MN 35 miles north of Detroit Lakes, MN.  Mahnomen Public School District is primarily a two-section school serving approximately 680 preschool-12th grade school students.
