As a reminder, in response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, our school board has recently passed a mask mandate in our school building. This decision will impact our Thunderbird Athletics program and events, including tonight's home volleyball game.
We kindly remind those attending to wear your mask and support our effort in continuing our indoor sport seasons safely for our student-athletes or tune into YourLiveEvent to watch the game online!

Good Morning, like most of our neighboring schools, the Mahnomen School District has recently seen a rapid increase of positive COVID cases and close contacts. Due to this evolving situation the school board passed a mask requirement that will begin next Monday, September 20 for all students, staff and visitors while indoors.
Since the start of school we have had 17% of our student population affected by absences due to first contacts or positive cases. We need our students to be in school. Masks will reduce the number of students absent. The masking requirement will be reviewed every 2-weeks.

The Mahnomen Pool will be offering a Lifeguard training class in October. Upon successful completion, you can apply to work at the pool! You need to be 15 years old to take the class.
Contact Mrs. Mac or stop by the pool for more information.

Norman-Mahnomen Public Health continues to offer Covid -19 vaccination clinics for those 12 and older weekly at multiple locations.
Children under 18 need signed parental consent.
Those who are fully immunized from COVID-19 that end up being a close contact within the schools and show no symptoms, will not have to be sent home. They can continue to be in school and self-monitor for symptoms.

Mahnomen Public School District is seeking applications for full-time paraprofessionals to provide academic and/or behavioral support services to students.
Applicants need to be able to meet Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements by having either (1) an associate or higher degree or (2) by having successfully completed a minimum of 60 hours (credits) of instruction from an institute of higher learning or (3) passing the Parapro Test, which may be taken at the Mahnomen School.
Compensation package starting at $16.00/hr. with excellent insurance benefit package. All applicants must pass a favorable criminal background check.

Welcome back to school! We are excited for the 2021-2022 year!
Activities for today include:

*Varsity VB vs. Blackduck (Mah) with JV at 6:00 pm, varsity to follow. There is NO C-team game!
*Due to a scheduling conflict, there will be NO junior varsity football game today against NCE-UH.

Reminder that Mahnomen Public Schools back-to-school open house is Thursday, September 2nd, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Seventh grade orientation starts at 3:30. Hope to see you there.
As we begin to approach another new school year, we would like to share the reminder to please make bus and student safety a priority by reviewing the bus loop and pickup/drop off procedures!
The first day of school is coming soon! Classes begin on Tuesday, September 7th. The health, safety, and wellness of our students, staff, and community remains a priority.

The Safe Learning Plan can change depending on local COVID conditions such as case rates, transmission factors, and vaccination rates. Please remain flexible and prepared for changes in mitigation measures.
With a cooperative effort we can maintain the safety and health of all persons in our schools.
*Please conduct a wellness check of your children every day before sending them to school.
*Please keep ill children home.
*Federal transportation rules require masks to be worn on buses.
*Masks are recommended to be worn while in-doors. Especially for those individuals that are not fully vaccinated.
*Positive cases will follow MHD isolation procedures.
*Close contacts may be quarantined dependent on their vaccination status or masking and social distancing practices.
*Classrooms are being arranged to allow for social distancing.
*Frequent hand washing is encouraged.
*Common surfaces will receive regular cleaning and disinfecting.
*In-door air quality is set to maximum volume of fresh air exchange.
