Our students, staff, families, and community came together for a Meaningful Mile Walk in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and Every Child Matters.
The morning began with breakfast and beverages, followed by the Opichi Drum Group, before participants took to the Mahnomen School track for the walk.
Seeing so many people wearing orange and walking together was a meaningful reminder of the importance of honoring the experiences of Indigenous children, families, and communities and recognizing that Every Child Matters.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this morning meaningful. A special thank you to the Mahnomen American Indian Education Program, Mahnomen Tribal Community Council, Opichi Drum Group, and everyone who helped organize and support the event.

Mahnomen Public School is beginning the process of updating our district’s strategic direction, and we’re looking for community members who would like to be part of the conversation.
Our Core Planning Team will meet three evenings this fall to review feedback from students, staff, families, and the community and help identify priorities for the future of our schools.
Meetings will be held from 5:30–8:00 p.m. on October 28, November 18, and December 2 in the High School Library. Meals and refreshments will be provided.
